The legacy of Black women in business continues to shine brightly—from Madame C.J. Walker to today’s powerhouse, Dr. Sajdah Wendy Muhammad. On Saturday, October 11, the Houston community gathered at the historic Eldorado Ballroom to celebrate the launch of her groundbreaking book, The Art and Science of Business. Sponsored by Queendom Come, Inc. and Attorney Sadiyah Karriem, the event was more than a book signing—it was a masterclass in divine creativity, mathematical thinking, and business accountability.

Dr. Sajdah Wendy Muhammad, who is an international Business and Real Estate Developer known for her innovation, integrity, and intellect, shared deep insights into what she calls the “art” and the “science” of business. “The Art,” she explained, “is the creative essence—what makes you unique and valuable. Science is the system and structure that allows that creativity to multiply and sustain.” Her words resonated powerfully with the audience, many of whom were entrepreneurs, educators, and community builders seeking to elevate their own ventures.

She also challenged the audience to break free from binary/ “this or that” thinking—the belief that we must choose either/or instead of embracing both/and. “Write down everything that could go wrong,” she said, “feel the emotion, and then think creatively about other possibilities. There is never just one choice.” Her message reminded the audience that abundance begins in the mind before it manifests in business.

Dr. Sajdah’s book—rich with chapters on Black Cultural Capital Framework, Negotiating and Pricing, Mathematical Thinking, and even Mating, Marriage, and Generational Wealth—serves as both a manual and a curriculum. It equips readers with the mindset and methodology to thrive in a world that often withholds the knowledge of the “three sciences” the enemy never wanted us to master: the science of business, the science of warfare, and the science of mating.

The event gave participants an opportunity to connect, network, and reflect on how they view business. Houston hospitality was in full effect with a great turnout of community members attending the event including Student Minister Dr. Haleem Muhammad and Sister Maalikah Muhammad, owner of Kameelah’s Closet. This event was more than a book-signing—it was an intellectual and spiritual session on the art and science of business.

Other jewels of insights shared by Dr. Sajdah:

  • Don't be afraid to be tired, work hard

  • A family member advised her when she was younger to never beg people for money. It makes people dislike you

  • When trying something, write down the worst thing that could happen and walk through the emotions. Open yourself up to be a creative problem solver, not someone who fears failure or something not working out.
