Virtue Today Magazine (VTM): As Salaam Alaikum. Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where you're from, what style you have studied.
Jair Muhammad(JM): Wa Alaikum Salaam. My name is Brother Jair, known as Sensei Ja. I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I’m 24 years young, but grew up under the tutorship leadership and guidance of my wonderful, illustrious teacher, Dr. Abdul Aziz Mohammad, who is the founder of VSK Jiujitsu, as well as VSK .
I am also a black belt in 2 styles of martial arts under Master Daniel Muhammad, of the Lion’s Paw Modern Martial Arts. I've been doing martial arts since I was about four years old, and now I'm taking what I've been given by my teacher and trying to spread it to as many people as humanly possible.
Virtue Today Magazine: Excellent. I think martial arts teaches discipline. What would you say the top three things or things that you have learned from martial arts? How does it benefit young people?
JM- You asked for three reasons, and I'll give you three.
Number 1. I would say it's discipline. And the discipline that you learn in the martial arts, you can take in every aspect of human endeavor.
