Charlotte, NC — On Saturday, August 16, the Queen City welcomed a distinguished guest: Sister Medina Mohammed, daughter of Burnsteen Sharrieff Muhammad—the one and only secretary of Master Fard Muhammad. Sister Burnsteen, who was chosen as one of the first nine laborers of the Nation of Islam, stood out for her exceptional clerical skills, typing 95 words per minute with 98% accuracy at just 17-years old. It was her hands that transcribed the earliest lessons, including the Actual Facts, as dictated by Master Fard Muhammad.
Sister Medina shared this powerful history at the “Tea 4 Two” gathering, emphasizing the sacrifices of pioneers who laid the foundation for the Nation’s growth.
Her words carried both wisdom and urgency. “There’s only one group of pioneers,” she reminded attendees, “age doesn’t make you a pioneer—sacrifice does.” She reflected on the discipline Master Fard Muhammad instilled, his love for baseball, and the waltz. He had a stern insistence on excellence.
Medina’s heartfelt testimony about her mother’s faith, work ethic, and determination deeply moved those in attendance. Echoing her message, Student Minister Corey Muhammad of Charlotte encouraged the audience to support her by purchasing a book and gifting a piece of history to someone. Sister Medina also shared that the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakahn supported her efforts to share this important part of the Nation’s history. He told her that more of the Nation’s history must be shared and preserved. Audience members included members in the Nation and in the community.
Sister Medina, who is also the daughter John Muhammad, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s brother, will continue sharing this rich history on tour. Student Minister Salaam Muhammad, who is a historian (Nation of Islam Archives) will appear with her on some stops.

The wonderful protocol staff, led by Sister Anthanetta Muhammad, has developed an exquisite signature event in Charlotte, North Carolina. Sis. Medina’s presence in Charlotte was more than a lecture—it was a reminder to embrace our roots and honor the legacy of those who came before us. Her books help to ensure that future generations remain inspired by the sacrifices and triumphs of the Nation’s pioneers. She plans to present at Mosque No. 7 in New York the weekend of August 23-24. Please make sure you attend her presentation if she comes to a city near you.
