In a time when hurried conversations, rushed meals, and digital distractions often replace thoughtful interaction, there remains a powerful need for grace, courtesy, and refined conduct. Helping to restore those timeless virtues is Sherry Gordon-Harris, founder and instructor of the Royal Purpose School of Etiquette, a program dedicated to the “Total Refinement of You.”

With a warm smile and a mission rooted in service, Sister Sherry teaches what many families and communities once passed down naturally—how to live with dignity, respect, and thoughtful manners in every area of life. Her guiding words say it best:“Live your life with Purpose in a Royal Manner.”
Through the Royal Purpose School of Etiquette, Gordon-Harris works with girls, boys, and adults, helping them develop social confidence and polished behavior in areas such as table manners, chivalry, graceful walking and sitting, proper greetings, effective communication, tea etiquette, and more. Her classes do more than teach rules; they help individuals carry themselves with confidence and character.
Sherry’s journey into etiquette instruction began through her community mentoring organization, The King’s Daughters World Ministries, where she prepared young participants in the Princess Pageant. What began as guidance for young girls soon blossomed into a broader mission. For more than a decade, she has faithfully taught youth etiquette and chivalry while also nurturing creative expression through vocal singing lessons, basic piano and keyboard instruction, and interpretive praise dancing.
Her approach blends refinement with empowerment—helping young people understand that how they present themselves to the world matters.
Beyond the classroom, Sherry has also used her voice through journalism. For more than four years, she has contributed etiquette guidance to a local Black-owned monthly newspaper through her column “Proper Politesse.”
Her articles offer practical wisdom on everyday situations where courtesy matters most. Topics have included:
Proper and Safe Greetings
How to Eat Soup Gracefully
Holiday Hospitality and House Guest Manners
Gift Giving and Re-gifting
Travel and Cell Phone Etiquette
RSVP Etiquette and Formal Dining
Wedding Guest Attire
Gym Workout Etiquette
Funeral Etiquette and Saying Good-bye with Grace
Each article reminds readers that etiquette is not about rigid rules—it is about showing respect for ourselves and for others.

Serving Communities and Organizations
The Royal Purpose School of Etiquette has touched many organizations and community programs, including the Boys and Girls Club of Rockford, Girl Scouts, Peoria Neighborhood House, and the Navy Sea Cadets Etiquette Dinner, where young students learn the art of formal dining. Sherry has also contributed her expertise at community events such as Career Spark, NAWBO Women Business Owners programs, and elegant gatherings like the Wildlife Prairie Park “Diamond of the Season” Bridgerton-inspired High Tea and Dinner. She has even coached young contestants for Miss Teen Indiana, helping them walk and sit gracefully with poise.
Her passion for personal excellence also extends to leadership and inspiration. During Mamba Day—Kobe Bryant Day celebrations, she served as a speaker encouraging young people to pursue their goals with discipline and purpose.
In addition to her many community contributions, Sherry Gordon-Harris proudly serves as a Virtue Today Magazine Ambassador in Chicago and surrounding areas, helping connect readers and leaders who believe in uplifting families and communities. She also hosts the thoughtful and engaging “Puri-TEA Talks” podcast, where conversations explore etiquette, character, and personal development—often over a symbolic cup of tea.
At its heart, etiquette is not simply about which fork to use or how to enter a room. It is about respect, dignity, and the understanding that every human interaction carries value. Through the Royal Purpose School of Etiquette, Sherry Gordon-Harris reminds us that refinement is not reserved for royalty. Rather, it is a practice available to anyone willing to walk with purpose, speak with kindness, and treat others with honor. We should all strive, as Sister Sherry expresses, to “Live your life with Purpose in a Royal Manner.”
