Harlem, NY – September 27, 2025 – The Modest Harlem Renaissance Fashion Show, sponsored by Al Nisa Designs of Women Working Together, lit up Harlem with elegance, inspiration, and unforgettable moments. Guests were delighted by heartfelt tributes including a unexpected call from the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, who sent greetings through Brother Don Enoch. The audience was further thrilled by a surprise appearance from acclaimed artist Jay Electronica, adding to the night’s energy and excitement.

Founder Sister Carmen Muhammad declared the vision with boldness and pride: “They can’t touch us! We are combining fashion. This world is built on sport and play, and we are combining fashion and Islam with our Fashion. Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton—they can’t touch us.”  She truly is a representative of the "Ministry of Fashion."

The evening was emceed by Brother Jamil Muhammad and began by honoring respected leaders within the community, including Student Regional Minister Arthur Muhammad, Sister Student Regional Capt. Johnna Muhammad, and Queen Afua. Sister Student Capt. Leslie Muhammad of Baltimore,  Sister Student Regional Capt. Nusaybah Muhammad and Sister Student Captain Shanasia joined in the tribute for Sister Student Captain Johnna Muhammad.

A moving thank you was given to Sister Capt. Johnna Muhammad, who reflected on her service, mentors, and mission to uplift women: “When women thrive, our communities thrive. We are unstoppable.” She also expressed gratitude to Sister Capt. Ameenah Rasul Muhammad, Sister Karrimah Muhammad, Sister A’ishah Muhammad, and holistic health icon Queen Afua.  Sister Johnna used to take the sisters to Queen Afua’s wellness retreats years ago.

Queen Afua, a wellness pioneer for over 40 years, share words of gratitude for her award. She appeared right at home with her NOI family. She reminded the audience that “There should be a healer in every family and a wellness center in every home.” She credited the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad’s writings as inspiration for her own groundbreaking work.  She said that his book, How to Eat To Live inspired her first book.  Queen Afua also gave praise to The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

The runway showcased breathtaking modest designs from across the nation including: Queen Aminah of Los Angeles, whose majestic fashions started off the show.  Next came the chic leisure and swimwear line of  Orchid Allure, Sister Rodrina Muhammad of New Orleans/New Jersey, Fabulous Finds by Sharon of Atlanta, Mahogany Brown by Debra Lloyd, and more. A tribute was also paid to the legendary Grandassa Models, trailblazers of Black beauty and empowerment.

The show culminated with a stunning finale of Al Nisa Designs’ signature business and evening wear, along with a bonus presentation of Harlem Heaven Hats. A highlight of the show was when Brother Don Enoch shared that he received a call from The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan who sent the greetings to those in attendance.  He shared with the audience of Minister Farrakhan’s words that to appreciate the modest dress that Sister Carmen is presenting is to “appreciate the highest form of civilization presented to us by the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad.”

As the evening closed, there was a surprise appearance by artist, Jay Electronica.  The D-Jay gave the audience a brief sample of Jay Electronica's powerful song “Who Killed Michael Jackson.”   The crowd left inspired by the unity and culture of the night.  One thing was clear: this was more than a fashion show. It was a cultural and spiritual celebration of modesty, resilience, and the unstoppable power of women working together.
